Brian Priestley (UK-Ireland):
Piano and ensembles for jazz beginners and improvers
A veteran of the London scene recently relocated to Ireland, Brian led his own groups since the 1970s and also has a reputation as solo pianist, appearing as such at the 2007 Guinness Jazz Festival in Cork. He’s arranged for Humphrey Lyttelton and the Lincoln Centre Jazz Orchestra, and his books of piano transcriptions included over 50 different pianists. His work as an author, journalist, broadcaster and educator have not diminished his love of playing. Brian lectured at SJP 2007 on jazz history and has written a Charlie Parker Biography called "Chasing the Bird". He is a regular contributor to Jazzwise, the UK's premier jazz magazine. Brian just started a weekly one-hour slot on Radio Kerry called That's Jazz, Wednesdays 9pm-10pm, 96-98FM broadcast live on the web www.radiokerry.ie
