Paul Williamson
Paul Williamson built his reputation on the Australian jazz and improvisation scene as an individual voice in trumpet and composition since graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts in 1995 with a Bachelor of Music Performance. As the leader of the Paul Williamson Sextet and Quintet, he has released five CD's. Paul has also been a regular performer at various Australian and International jazz festivals and workshops, including the Sligo Jazz Project in Ireland (performing with Rufus Reid, Paul Wertico, and Norma Winstone), and has toured U.K., France, Noumea, China, Ireland, Germany, and the U.S.A.
Paul relocated to Dublin , Ireland in November 2006, and has been active on the Irish jazz scene playing with: Dave Liebman, Ronan Guilfoyle, Michael Buckley, Phil Ware Trio, Sean Carpio, Tommy Halferty Trio, Greg Felton, Richie Buckley, The Organics, Havana Son, Zoid, Swing and Co, Metier, Zrazy, The Dublin Jazz Orchestra, and the David Little Trio. He also continues to lead his own quintet and quartet 'Savage Monkey'.
Paul is currently a faculty member of the Jazz department at the Newpark Music Centre (an affiliate school of the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston) teaching the Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Performance Degree.
